Assistant Coach: Alexia Gruszcaunski

Lexi is an experienced volleyball player bursting with knowledge of the sport and avid about working hard! Lexi played club volleyball for eight years for A4 Volleyball Club and was recruited to play for the prestigious program at UC Berkeley. She has earned many accolades throughout her career including being named the starting libero for the Cal team after only two weeks in the program! Outside of volleyball Lexi is an admirable student working towards a degree in Urban Studies from UC Berkeley! However, even through this crazy schedule, Lexi makes time for personal hobbies like hiking, listening to music, cleaning (for fun!), and playing with her cat named Michael! One of Lexi’s favorite musicians is her roommate Lydia Grote, and her favorite ice cream flavor is Mint Chip!

Golden Bear alumni and all around great coach!

Assistant Coach: Fiona Arnold

Fiona has been with Golden Bear Volleyball since her 5th grade year. In addition to club volleyball, she played for her high school team, winning MVP of the league and the OAL Championship two years in a row. She is in the process of applying to college and hopes to major in exercise sciences before heading off to medical school. When she’s not playing a sport, she’s watching the SF Giants and Golden State Warriors. You can also find her hiking the Berkeley hills with her family during the weekends. Fiona is super excited to work with the 13 Nike team this season on skills, both on and off the court. Go Bears!

Co- Head Coach Mia Navellier

EMAIL

Mia has been coaching for 17 years and is going into her 13th year with us here at Golden Bear Volleyball. She has also coached at Piedmont Middle School, School of the Madeleine and Benicia High School. She played 7 years of volleyball and continues to play with an adult coed league when time permits. When she was not on the volleyball court growing up you could find her on the softball field, basketball court or swimming pool.

Mia attended the University of Nevada Reno for 3 years and ended up graduating from San Francisco State University in 2008 with her Bachelors in Psychology. She believes in hard work and commitment and strives to bring out the best in not only her team but the individual players. Not only does she focus on volleyball skills and the mental aspect of the game, but the bigger picture and life lessons. Mia looks forward to the opportunity to work with those who will be a part of the 12 Nike team and Golden Bear Volleyball Club!

Co- Head Coach Zahra Jackson

EMAIL

Zahra is a graduate of Manhattan College, completing and earning a bachelors of science in Physical Education. She received her Masters in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. Currently, she is teaching 5-8th grade PE and the Asst. Athletic Director  at The Hamlin School. Zahra has been playing volleyball since 6th grade. She moved up to the varsity team mid 8th grade and started her freshman year. She was captain and MVP senior year in high school. Although she really wanted to play in college she unfortunately could not because balancing academics and athletics would have been a challenge for her. Instead of playing in college she decided to start coaching her sophomore year. She has not looked back since. She has now been coaching volleyball for 11 years. She has plenty of knowledge of the sport both physically and mentally, and understands the skills and techniques used to be a great coach. She is very excited to be coaching with the Golden Bears again, and eager to train and get your daughter ready for the next level.
