  • Rice's Natalie Bogan was named to the AVCA All-Midwest region team. In addition, Bogan was named first-team all-Conference USA.
  • Virginia Tech's Felicia Willoughby was named to the AVCA All-East region team. In addition, Willoughby was named to the All-ACC First Team.
  • San Francisco State's Iris Tolenada was named CCAA freshman of the year, and made the all-CCAA second team.
  • Colorado School of Mines' Elizabeth Serra-Hsu was named to the Daktronics All-Region second team.
  • Cal's Tarah Murrey was named honorable mention all-Pac 10.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (Nov. 19) – Cal State San Bernardino, which captured its fourth straight California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) title, had a league-high tying five players named to the 2009 All-CCAA team, including a conference-high four first-team selections.

Senior middle blocker Sylvia Schmidt, who helped UC San Diego to a second-place finish, became the third Tritons player to earn Player of the Year honors and first since Nicole Courtney was honored in 2006. Schmidt was one of five UC San Diego players to receive all-conferences honors, tying Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State L.A. for the most selections.

San Francisco State setter Iris Tolenada, who helped the Gators to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1987, was named Freshman of the Year, while Cal State L.A. junior outside hitter Zuzana Cizova was selected Newcomer of the Year and Kim Cherniss of Cal State San Bernardino was tabbed Coach of the Year for the fourth time.


Elizabeth Serra-Hsu named to 2009 All-RMAC teams...

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 11, 2009) – Two student-athletes from the Colorado School of Mines volleyball team have earned post-season honors from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, as announced today by the RMAC. Elizabeth Serra-Hsu earned First Team All-RMAC honors while Kaity Edmiston garnered Second Team All-RMAC recognition.

Serra-Hsu, a 5’11” junior outside hitter / opposite from Davis, Calif. (Davis High School), is currently ranked first in the RMAC in service aces (tied – 38), second in service aces per game (0.35), third in points (434.5), fifth in both points per set (3.95) and kills (357), seventh in kills per set (3.25), 10th in digs (337) and 13th in digs per set (3.06). Serra-Hsu, who was selected as the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on August 31st, is now ranked fourth in the CSM career record book in both digs (1,153) and total attacks (3,343), as well as fifth in both kills (1,190) and service aces (tied – 91). Earlier this season, Serra-Hsu was named to the Holiday Inn Denver West Village Oredigger Volleyball Classic (MVP) and St. Edward's University Hilltopper Volleyball Classic all-tournament teams. As a sophomore in 2008, Serra-Hsu earned First Team All-RMAC, All-RMAC Tournament and Honorable Mention All-Central Region (AVCA) honors.
